‘Let’s Talk about Drugs’ Media Awards

Greater Blanchardstown Response to Drugs has launched their 5th annual media awards. The aim of the Drugs Media Awards is to encourage debate around the drugs issue in Ireland by asking students, aspiring reporters and those with an interest in the drugs issue, to create original media features.
Entrants can choose between cartoon strips, audio features, film or animated videos or newspaper articles for competition. The winning submissions will be published or broadcast through local papers, digital TV and community radio in April.
The competition falls into four age categories: age 12 to 14, age 15 to 17, age 18 to 20 and adults aged 21 and over.
The deadline for entries is Wednesday, March 16th.
Any entries that are also forwarded on to North Inner City Drugs Task Force will be considered for display on our website.

Sexual Health & Drug Awareness: Training for Trainers Programme FETAC Level 5 Component Certificate
Tuesday 1st March to Tuesday 19th April 2011 (one day a week for 8 weeks) 10:00am to 4:00pm
Venue: Dublin AIDS Alliance, 53 Parnell Square West, Dublin 1
Sponsored by the NICDTF, the primary aim of the programme is to train youth and community leaders/workers, develop and enhance their skills, and provide them with relevant information and resources to enable them to work with clients and deliver sexual health and drug awareness training to the client group in their care.
Course Fee: €200 [Note: the course fee is inclusive of all FETAC related costs.]
Applications should be submitted by 22nd February 2011. Places are limited to 12 participants per programme.

Chrysalis & Coolmine Women’s Pre- entry Group Starts Thursday 24th February for 6 weeks 2 - 3.30pm in Chrysalis Goal Setting - Personal Care - Self Esteem
Open to all women working or living in Dublin 7 area who have experienced difficulties in relation to addiction. Optional progression to Coolmine Day Programme/alternative programmes.
Chrysalis Mobile Health Clinic Evening for Women Wednesdays 7pm - 10pm from Wed 23rd Feb 2011 City Centre Location (Northside)
- Full GP service - free of charge - female GP
- Chrysalis Outreach Workers on board
- fully equipped vehicle
- access to local pharmacy for free prescriptions
- support attending hospital follow ups
- open to women who are or have been in addiction/sex work OR homelessness
- support filling out medical card forms
- onward referrals to drug/alcohol/homeless services
