CHRYSALIS COMMUNITY DRUG PROJECT
Chrysalis was set up in 1998 by a group of local residents and workers to address, and respond to drug issues within the Greater Stoneybatter area, Dublin 7. Chrysalis is a Company Limited by Guarantee, with Charitable Status. Currently Chrysalis offers a broad range of services to people, living or working in the community, affected by drug use.
Chrysalis Community Drug Project is a Harm Reduction Drug Service
The project is split into the following 4 service provision areas :
Core Community Drug Work
We operate a referal based (which includes self referral) client service to support drug users who live or work in the Dublin 7 area. They can access the following:
- Case Management
- Key Working with Care planning
- Community Detox Support
- Harm Reduction – Safer Injection Techniques
- Crisis Intervention
- Addiction Counselling / Motivational Interviewing
- Referrals
Women Working In Prostitution
We operate a dedicated Harm Reduction Service to female sex workers in Dublin. This service includes the following:
- Assertive Outreach Team
- Health promotion materials (e.g. condoms, lubricant etc)
- Street safety advice and safer sex information
- Brief intervention
- Case Management / Key Working / Care Planning
- 12 Week Educational Course twice a year composed of personal development, self defence and negotiation skills.
- Referral to specialised services – medical, housing and drug treatment etc.
- Referral to the Gardai to report incidents with punters/clients/other working women
Evening Counselling Service
We operate a counselling service two evenings a week The service is targeted at the following individuals:
- Part of aftercare package for clients who have completed treatment and want some added support around specific issues.
- Clients who are stable on methadone maintenance and are working but wish to avail of the service.
- Women who may have childcare issues and require evening service.
Crisis Intervention –Chrysalis has an open door policy to anyone who is in crisis.
